German students abroad

Studying at a foreign university is often a great asset. But since there are a number of questions to be clarified in connection with a stay abroad, students should start preparing about 18 months before the planned stay. The international offices of universities provide detailed information about the various options for designing and financing a study abroad.

Funding students’ stay abroad in the EU under the ERASMUS EU programme

At the earliest after the end of the first academic year, students can study for three to twelve months at a European host university (possibly in conjunction with an internship) through a scholarship from the SOCRATES/ERASMUS programme. Funding is possible only once during the course (up to and including the doctorate).

You will get comprehensive information from the German Academic Exchange Service as well.
